Survey findings revealed that homeschooling remains a top choice for 86% of families across the U.S., with 49% of parents planning to continue indefinitely, and 37% planning to homeschool for the foreseeable future, but may reassess as circumstances change.

The FlexPoint survey, conducted by OvationMR, a marketing research company, between October and December 2024, included a total of 1,424 homeschooling parents in California, Florida, New York, North Carolina, and Texas. All participants have at least one child in PreK-12 who is homeschooled at least 50% of the time. The survey was distributed to better understand the U.S. homeschooling population and their motivations, especially as more parents consider new schools for their children amid expanding school choice options.

“These findings highlight how the education landscape has evolved over the past several years and amplified what we already know - that the traditional classroom model is not effective for all students because many learn differently,” said Dr. Louis Algaze, president and chief executive officer of FlexPoint. “Now, more than ever, we must ensure families have a variety of options, including homeschooling online, so all students can follow the learning path that works best for them.”

Survey Methodology:

The survey was conducted by OvationMR, a marketing research company, between October and December 2024. It was distributed to homeschooling parents in California, Florida, New York, North Carolina, and Texas who have at least one child in PreK-12 who is homeschooled at least 50% of the time. The survey included six screener questions, 23 main questions, and six demographic-related questions. The main survey questions were split up into five sections: motivations for homeschooling, homeschooling logistics, procurement and utilization of study materials, homeschooling highs and lows, and homeschooling in the future. A total of 1,424 parents completed all survey questions. Statistical analysis of responses revealed key insights about the U.S. homeschooling population and their motivations.
