Description

This course lays the groundwork for future high school math by teaching essential algebra concepts through real-world problem solving. It connects numbers, graphs, and equations to practical scenarios in sports, travel, business, and health, making the material relatable and tangible. The course is designed to enhance problem-solving skills and build confidence in math, ensuring that you are well-prepared for more advanced math courses. By highlighting algebra's everyday relevance, it establishes a strong foundation for further mathematical studies.Please note that this is a Credit Recovery course. Credit Recovery courses are not NCAA approved and should not be used by student athletes attempting to recover credits.

Module One: Algebra Basics

-Simplify algebraic expressions

-Solve one-variable algebraic equations

-Solve one-variable algebraic inequalities

-Solve absolute value equations


Module Two: Linear Functions

-Evaluate functions

-Graph linear functions

-Write equations of linear functions

-Identify key features of linear functions


Module Three: Exponential Functions

-Use the properties of exponents

-Calculate simple and compound interest

-Create exponential equations to model real-world situations

-Graph exponential functions


Module Four: Statistics

-Analyze and interpret data

-Calculate and interpret joint and marginal frequencies

-Develop a scatter plot and a line of best fit

Module Five: Systems of Equations and Inequalities

-Solve systems of equations graphically

-Solve systems of equations substitution or elimination

-Graph systems of linear inequalities


Module Six: Polynomial Operations

-Define and determine the characteristics of polynomials

-Use the properties of exponents in multiplying and dividing monomials

-Add, subtract, multiply, and divide polynomial expressions


Module Seven: Factoring Polynomials

-Find the greatest common factor of a polynomial

-Factor a polynomial by grouping

-Factor a trinomial

-Factor a polynomial that is the difference of perfect squares


Module Eight: Quadratic Functions

-Graph quadratic functions

-Solve quadratic equations by completing the square

-Solve quadratic equations using the quadratic formula

-Compare key features of functions

-Identify and describe a transformation
