Ever wonder about how you can create art? In this course, you’ll connect with art created by other artists as you learn how to plan, create, and reflect on your own art. You’ll discover tools and techniques artists use as you create your own drawings, sculptures, paintings, photographs, and mixed-media works. You’ll need to purchase supplies for this class. But don’t worry, you have choices in what you can use!

Module One: Drawing

-Explore drawing with charcoal and pastels

-Explore the element of shape

-Where can you experience art

-How art influences ideas, emotions, and actions

-Create a drawing that tells a story

-Explore how illustrators use the artistic process in their job

 

Module Two: Sculpting

-Explore the elements of texture and form

-How to use air-hardening clay and other sculpting materials

-How to interpret and talk about art

-Explore how fashion and textile designers use the artistic process in their work

-Create a sculpture using clay or other sculpting materials

-Learn safety procedures when working with sculpting materials


Module Three: Painting

-Explore the elements of color and value

-Explore how to use acrylic and watercolor paint

-How to interpret and talk about art

-Explore how fashion and graphic designers use the artistic process in their work

-Create a painting with a silhouette and the element of color

-Learn how to use and store your paint


Module Four: Painting

-Explore the element of line

-Explore techniques to help take a good photograph

-Learn how to interpret and talk about art

-Explore how photographers use the artistic process in their work

-Create photographs that use the element of line

-Learn how to use tools and materials safely when taking photographs


Module Five: Mixed Media
