This is an intermediate course with concepts across many types of sciences, including Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Through asking questions, making predictions, making and comparing observations, making inferences, working with others to conduct investigations, explaining the results of investigations, developing models, constructing arguments, and making claims, students will learn about gravity, stars, forms of energy, motion, heat and light, properties and changes in matter, plant structures and functions, plant responses, plant and animal classification, and adaptations.Module 1: Matter
-Physical properties of matter (size, shape, color, texture, and hardness)
-Mass, volume, and temperature of solids and liquids
-Observations made by tools
-Records of observations
Module 2: Water and Heat
-States of matter
-Changes of state in water
-Increase in temperature
-Heat energy causes
Module 3: Energy and Gravity
-Types of energy (heat, light, sound, electrical and mechanical)
-Motion and changes in motion
-Magentism
-Law of gravity
Module 4: Light
-Light travel
-Refraction and absorption of light energy
-The relationahip between light and heat
Module 5: Stars and The Sun
-Size and brightness of stars
-Energy of the Sun as a star
-Magnification from a telescope
-Radiant energy from the Sun
-Models of natural phenomena
Module 6: Plants
-Basic needs of plants (Sun, air, and water)
-Structure and function of leaveslants
-Nutrient transport through stems and roots
-Records of observations
-Structure of flowering and nonflowering plants and their roles in reproduction
-Responses and adaptations of plants
-Ask questions about the natural world
Module 7: Animals
-Classification of animals into major groups
-Animal characteristics and behavior
-Animal adaptations
