Description

Are GMOs good for you? How do you explain the difference between organic and all-natural to consumers? How does a small farm advertise to a local community? In this course, students are introduced to visual, verbal, and written techniques to communicate agricultural information to stakeholders. This course prepares students with specialized knowledge of agriculture and media as they learn to design and develop marketing materials, engage in the community, and address needs of agricultural producers and consumers in a moral and ethical way. Students write news stories, compose photographs, create publications, and develop audio and video press materials. They also practice presenting speeches and visual presentations, developing real-world skills that apply across career fields. Throughout the course, students explore opportunities and develop employability skills to prepare for a career in the agricultural communication field.
